The story

Four owners. One kitchen. Still made by hand.

Sweet and sour shrimp with fried rice and dipping sauce at Kitok

Kitok and Robert Moore started Kitok in 1975. Since then it has passed from one Korean-American woman to the next: Min Ja Chung, then her sister Kyung Brendemuehl, and in January 2018 to Kyong Dehnert, who once waited tables here.

The menu never picked a side. Korean plates and diner burgers share the same flat-top, and Kyong says more than 80% of it is still made in house, burgers included.

“I never tried to make Oriental fries… Only here.”
